I have read many reviews on this site of products being difficult to assemble - that wasn't the case with this, and to be honest... if you want things this inexpensive you should expect some amount of assembly! This is exactly as described, and the only issue I had with it is that the plastic brackets for the drawer sliders are pretty fragile where the screw placement is located. 1/4 a turn to much and it cracks. This just means you have to be careful and definately use hand tools to assemble (I didn't use a power tool but could see how it would be an issue).

We purchased two Sonoma night stands, a bookshelf headboard and the twin bench for an often used guest room. We assembled all four items in about four hours. The directions were clear but we would advise installing the plastic "beauty" heads on the screws prior to installation of facing trim boards. Overall we are happy with the purchase (saving us approximately three fourths of our budget), and with the ease of assembly. The base face board of the twin bench has some slight dings but they are not glaring. I anticipated it would be used for luggage and I was a bit nervous about surface damage. After a five day guest, it is none worse for the wear. All in all, considering the products are particle board and MDF, a good purchase.

Nightstands have excellent surface space and are the perfect height. My biggest complaint is that the laminate easily chips and/or breaks off at the edges of the door fronts, corners, etc. Top surface seems to be pretty durable.
